Be sure to discern and plan well with your team and parish priest. What age group(s) are you working with? What cultural backgrounds are you dealing with? What makes your parish community unique? What are the current trends in the world of youth? What are their needs in their faith? These and other factors are important to consider as you embark on initiating or improving your parish youth ministry. Consider doing a needs assessment in your parish before you take any big steps.
As a guide for parish priests and youth leaders we have published the Youth Forum Manual which is a detailed illustration of our own Archdiocesan organisational structure from parish level to Archdiocesan level.
